Major flooding in Medina

7/1/2019 (Permalink)

We had a wild and wet June with all the rain. Many areas in Medina and Brunswick flooded pretty bad. If you walk down your basement stairs to find inches of water on the ground, call us right away. Most people aren't prepared for their basement to flood. A basement can flood at any time, although flooding most often occurs during heavy rainfall. Basements are prone to flooding because they are the lowest level of a building and are normally built partly or entirely below ground level. There are a number of reasons why your basement could flood, including:

  • A blocked or failed sewer lateral pipe
  • Heavy rain causes surface water to pool around your home
  • Storm sewer backup
  • Sanitary sewer backup
  • Foundation drainage failure
  • Water supply-line break or hot-water tank failure
  • And many more

Even though Medina County saw 20+ inches of rain in June, flooding usually happens when we have heavy rainfall in short amount of time. This is what happened at the end of the month and caused Barberton and Chippewa Lake to flood so severely. We were able to help a lot of people out with their flood damage repairs. As always, we are available to help 24/7 if you find any flood damage!
